Longing For Spring

IMG_3843 (1)I don’t know when I have ever been more ready for Spring to make its appearance.  I’m pretty sure that those of us here in the Tennessee Valley aren’t the only ones either, as I would imagine, most of America is ready too.  This has been one tough winter everywhere.  Let us not forget what the word of God says…”There is a time for everything, and everything on earth has its special season.”  Ecclesiastes 3:1 NCV

I Long For Spring

In my mind the sky is blue,

the clouds drift softly by.

The Mother bird, she sweetly sings

as babies long to fly.

Tiny buds begin to bloom upon

the trees once more.

A lush green carpet under foot,

is growing as before.

The sun whose warmth envelopes me,

its shine of languid gold,

breaking through a Winter’s heart

that’s buried in the cold.

Perfumed and scented flowers,

are filling air and space.

Before we welcome Summer,

we welcome Spring to take its place.

Elizabeth Bennett Maxwell

How beautiful David pens his words about the amazing craftsmanship of God on display for us!  “God’s glory is on tour in the skies. God-craft on exhibit across the horizon. Madame Day holds classes every morning. Professor Night lectures each evening. Their words aren’t heard, their voices aren’t recorded, But their silence fills the earth: unspoken truth is spoken here….That’s how God’s Word vaults across the skies from sun rise to sunset, melting ice, scorching deserts, warming hearts of faith.” Psalm 19:1-4,6 MSG

Spring, we welcome you and look forward to the beauty and wonder that God will bring forth of this beautiful season we are all longing for!

  1. Beth, Yes… a longing for spring! (You wrote this, correct? The word pictures are wonderful!) Two verses come to mind: 1) Revelation 22:17, “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.” May our longing for spring be surpassed by our longing for Jesus’s return! 2) Song of Songs 2:11-12, “See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.” Your words sang on the page as we think of spring! 🙂

    • Yes Debbie I wrote that….thank you for your beautiful expanded insight and reflections! Yes! May our longing for Spring surpass our longing for Jesus’ return! Amen 😊
