Weekends are for refreshing and recharging.  And when you’ve been blessed from a weekend like I just got back from, you just have to give thanks and let others know about it.

With our luggage and snacks (more snacks than luggage!) in tow, me and my friends all piled up in the car, and headed out this past Friday to experience a blessing with our Papa God and with each other.  A conference that lasted from Friday through Sunday.  A time of praise and worship, and listening to three wonderful women speakers who proclaimed the name of God, through testimonies and encouragement.  One of the three is a comedian who spoke, sang and made us laugh until we cried!  One thousand women gathered together for a blessed weekend.

This was our fifth time of going to the “Women of Joy” conference.  I went to the WOJ website and wanted to share with you what it’s all about:

Women of Joy has encouraged women with the Word of God, the joy of music, and the spirit of friendship for more than a decade.

While Women of Joy focuses on the spiritual needs of women, what sets a weekend at Women of Joy apart is the time built in for fellowship. Your world moves so fast, sometimes you need a little time to break away and build relationships or simply strengthen the relationships that you already have.  Each Women of Joy weekend is designed around a core of deep Biblical teaching and moving worship, with time for fun sprinkled in. You will be amazed at the difference that 48 Hours can make with your group of women friends, your church group, or your daughters! We call it the 48 Hour Difference.

Yep…that’s about it in a wonderful nutshell!  And it truly is all that and a “bag of chips”…or in our case, our favorite snacks that we take each year.

This year the speakers were, Margaret Feinberg  and  Jennifer Rothschild With Anita Renfroe in concert Saturday night and Charles Billingsley leading praise and worship.

This years theme was “Beauty beyond what the EYES can see.” ~ J. Silvious

Jennifer Rothschild said:  “We must know who God is so we can know who we are.”  And also, “With the mirror of God’s word you can see who you are.”

These are truths that we need to tuck away in our hearts and minds and never forget!  I have included the websites of the speakers that we had so you can go to them and check them out.  I know you would love each one as I have.  And if you want a “pick me up” and a wonderful laugh, please check out Anita Renfroe’s YouTube videos, you won’t be disappointed!  Love this fabulous funny woman of God!

We all need a time and a place in our lives to recharge and refresh.  What better way than to refresh with friends.  Throw in some laughter, and just plain old fun.  And of course a little bit of shopping.

A time to get away and be with wonderful friends.  A time of refreshing for each of us.

“For they have refreshed my spirit and yours.  Therefore recognize such people.” 1 Corinthians 16:18 HCSB

“Refreshed and sustained at one fountain ~ his Spirit ~ where we all come to drink.” 1 Corinthians 12:13 MSG

Doing life together as friends.

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”  Proverbs 27:17 NLT

The Author

Hey glad you dropped by! My name is Elizabeth Maxwell, but everyone knows me as "Beth." I am the wife to Kevin Maxwell of 38 years. We have 3 grown sons, one daughter-in-law, and our adopted daughter Maria. God laid on our hearts to experience an awesome journey in 2000, in adopting our special needs daughter, Maria Dean. God has truly been with us every step of the way on our journey. I live in the beautiful foothills state of Tennessee. I love my beautiful Tennessee home. From the foothills to the whippoorwills, God's beauty shines forth here. I love to laugh often. I enjoy old movies, reading books, and I love to sing in my award (Dove) winning choir at First Baptist Church! I love my sweet little job, working with Kindergartners...and yes "kids do say the darndest things!" I am encouraged by God's word and I love to dig into it. I am by no means a scholarly expert, but I do delight in His encouragement for me. I am a friend of God...after all, God's got my back! And not just my back - "He goes before me." (Deuteronomy 31:8) "He's right beside me." (Hebrews 13:5) and, "He surrounds me on every side." (Psalm 125:2) These verses remind me that I am not alone while traveling on this "Journey Called Life!" Won't you travel with me? My prayer is that you will be encouraged, and know that you are not alone on this journey called life!
