When we have an amazing friendship with someone, we’re always happy to see them. Since it has the status of being amazing, they likewise are happy to see us too! And I doubt very seriously you greet each other in monotone voices much like the cartoon characters ‘Sam-the-Sheepdog’ going to work greeting the ‘wolf’ with….”Uh – good morning Ralph.” ~ “Good morning Sam” (A cartoon may I remind you that was part of the great Bugs Bunny collection!)
Paul knew about this kind of friendship. “Now that we have actually received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to simply say it with plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God through Jesus the Messiah!” Romans 5:11 MSG.
I could probably tell you in my own words what ‘plodding prose’ means, but I wanted to look it up.
*Plodding ~ slow and boring.
*Prose ~ matter-of-fact, common place, dull expression.
We catch a glimpse of David’s amazing friendship with God when we see how he pours his heart out through worship and praise in beautiful expressions of loving words!
“But you, O God, are both tender and kind, not easily angered, immense in love, and you never, never quit.” Psalm 86:14 MSG. “I’m thanking you, God, out loud in the streets, singing your praises in town and country. The deeper the love, the higher it goes.” Psalm 27:9-10 MSG.
Pretty Amazing huh? No ‘plodding prose’ coming from David’s mouth!
Our amazing friendship with our Papa God should find us shouting His praise and honoring Him with sweet Hallelujahs!
