A few years ago, (when he was younger mind you) my great nephew saw a crescent moon in the sky and called it “God’s toenail.” When my sister-in-law, his Mimi told me this I thought it was the cutest thing! Now every time I see a crescent moon, I think of that description and I say, “that’s God’s toenail”, and if I happen to be with someone I explain.
As I write this, I’m at home and looking forward to a relaxing prop my wool wrapped feet up on the couch kind of day!
School is out due to extreme weather. And after having just wrote about how teachers love ‘snow days’, add ‘cold days’ to that list also. Extreme is right! Current temp 9 degrees, that’s pretty cold for the south!
So a little of ‘Paul Newman’ coffee, reading, and watching ‘The Waltons’ just might be in order for the day. (Hey, don’t be laughing – who doesn’t love that family!)
My great-nephew’s description of the crescent moon as God’s toenail was pretty imaginative. So I got to thinking, if that looks like God’s toenail, (now my nephew wasn’t at all indicating this) I know God doesn’t have his feet propped up!
Don’t think for a minute that our Papa God is relaxing in a ‘Lazy-boy’ recliner with his feet propped up, with only his toenails for us to see! Quite the opposite. Our God is omnipresent and standing firm watching over us. He never sleeps, nor does he slumber!
“Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber, or sleep. The Lord protects you; the Lord is a shelter right by your side. The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night. The Lord will protect you from all harm; He will protect your life. The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.” Psalm 121:4-8 HCSB
As I relax today, I am reminded of and thanking my Papa God of His watch care and protection of me!
