Hang In There Baby

🔶What was 2013 like for you? Was it everything you thought it would be? Was it a year full of happiness and milestones met? Was it a roller-coaster kind of year with ups and downs? Did you feel blessed? Was there sickness or pain? Maybe you experienced heartache through the year? Did you laugh a lot? Live life to the fullest? Did you feel like you couldn’t make it through another day?
🔸For some people 2013 may have been the toughest year for them so far. Each of us can probably think of specific years and say, “Yep, that year was the toughest for me yet!”
🔸 I can remember as a child going to the dentist, while being under the influence of novocaine, I looked up and saw this poster of a cat hanging at the end of a rope! And let me just say how encouraging that was for me at that particular moment….NOT! A ploy, I was convinced, ( by the the staff ) to get my mind off of what was happening in my mouth! “Just Hang In There Baby”. With variations of this adorable cat pose, whether hanging from a pole or end of a rope… was a cute poster, but didn’t ease any of my pain! Needless to say, anyone that has been to the Dentist office and has seen this poster as a child, has it imprinted on their brain!
🔸If you felt like you were at the end of your rope in 2013, cry out to the one who can pull you up! Paul has a word for us in Romans 7:24 MSG. “I’ve tried everything and nothing helps. I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me?” As Paul asks this question, he also answered…”The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does!” Verse 25-[emphasis of exclamation mark added by me!]
🔸What an encouragement for us! Our Papa God knows exactly what we are going through! He knows when we are at the end of our ropes!
🔸David also knew he was at the end of his rope so to speak, but he put it differently than Paul did. David cried out from a ditch deep in mud! “I waited and waited and waited for God. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip.” Psalm 40:1-3 MSG
🔸Both David and Paul, knew from experience what God had done for them! Paul said it right, Jesus can and does….does what? “Jesus loves us” We could stop right here with these three words…but there’s more! Paul goes on to say….”I’m absolutely convinced that nothing ~ nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable ~ absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.” Romans 8: 38-39 MSG
🔸Don’t forget about this love that can pull you up from a muddy ditch, or even at the end of your rope! A love that will never leave you or fail you now, for the coming year in 2014, and praise God, for all the years to come!

Hey there....so glad you dropped by! My name is Elizabeth Maxwell, but everyone knows me as "Beth." I am the wife to Kevin Maxwell of 38 years. We have 3 grown sons, one daughter-in-law, and our adopted daughter Maria. God laid on our hearts to experience an awesome journey in 2000, in adopting our special needs daughter, Maria Dean. God has truly been with us every step of the way on our journey. I live in the beautiful foothills state of Tennessee. I love my beautiful Tennessee home. From the foothills to the whippoorwills, God's beauty shines forth here. I love to laugh often. I enjoy old movies, reading books, and I love to sing in my award (Dove) winning choir at First Baptist Church! I love my sweet little job, working with Kindergartners...and yes "kids do say the darndest things!" I am encouraged by God's word and I love to dig into it. I am by no means a scholarly expert, but I do delight in His encouragement for me. I am a friend of God...after all, God's got my back! And not just my back - "He goes before me." (Deuteronomy 31:8) "He's right beside me." (Hebrews 13:5) and, "He surrounds me on every side." (Psalm 125:2) These verses remind me that I am not alone while traveling on this "Journey Called Life!" Won't you travel with me? My prayer is that you will be encouraged, and know that you are not alone on this journey called life!
